Ashtabula hair stylists opens 'The Kat Walk Salon Suites'

Jun. 21—ASHTABULA — Ashtabula hair stylist Kathy Arkkelin opened her new salon, The Kat Walk Salon Suites, in April.

Arrkelin said that the response has been wonderful.

The Kat Walk is not like your typical salon, offering a more upscale experience.

"I have always wanted to open a salon where I could incorporate elegance and semi-private work space for stylists and their clients," Arkkelin said in a press release. "Salon suites are becoming the industry standard for the self-employed salon professionals. Each stylist has a private suite and easy access to shampoo and dryer areas. The clients feel more pampered and us as stylists have more room to breathe and make the experience a personal one for us and our clients."

Long-time advanced stylists of the salon include Missie Legge, Julie Kaiser and Lynette Danes.

The salon recently introduced a new service, the Japanese Head Spa, originating from Japan where head and scalp care are core foundations to maintaining healthy and beautiful hair.

"This one-of-a-kind service allows us to combine intensive scalp and head care with the ultimate rejuvenating and luxurious experience. Deep cleansing of the scalp leads to more healthy, efficient hair growth," Arrkelin. "We can help clients to identify and address many concerns about conditions such as dandruff, excessive oil and hair loss while enjoying scalp massage, aroma therapy and message bed."

Arrkelin said that she is currently looking for more stylists to join Kat Walk.

"You can call or text 440-825-3095 to inquire about suite availability, salon and spa services and to schedule appointments," she said.

The salon is located in the North Gate Plaza at 1120 Lake Ave.

"We are grateful to the Ashtabula community for their support and are anxious to welcome you to The Kat Walk," Arrkelin said. "We know you're going to love it."
