Ubisoft announced Monday that the Assassin's Creed Mirage release date has been moved up by a week, to October 5, 2023. The publisher also revealed in a tweet that the game has "gone gold," meaning that main development is now complete and the game is good enough to be published on physical media.

The game was previously scheduled for an October 13 release and is being developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the studio behind Wrath of the Druids, the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, in collaboration with half a dozen other Ubisoft studios.

The next chapter in the Assassin's Creed series is set in Baghdad and follows the story of Basim Ibn Ishaq, whom we first met in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. In Mirage, we'll get to see Basim in his early years and witness his journey to become a Hidden One.

Mirage promises to be a more compact Assassin's Creed game after some have criticised recent titles in the series for being too bloated. The game is also expected to be a return to the AC series' roots and a return to form for Ubisoft.

Unlike its lengthy predecessors, Mirage is focused on a relatively short, more linear story, and will bring back more prominent stealth elements, much like earlier titles in the Assasin's Creed franchise.

In a recent interview Ubisoft lead producer Fabian Salomon discussed Mirage playtime tests and revealed that the upcoming game would take players up to 25-30 hours, and that's only if they are completionists who strive to see and do everything the game offers.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is releasing simultaneously for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. The game is not coming to Steam for the time being.
