Beating the heat at this year’s Hampton Roads PrideFest
NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The blazing hot sun will put a spotlight on the need for safety at weekend events, including the Hampton Roads PrideFest happening all weekend long at Town Point Park in Norfolk.

With this being the hottest PrideFest weekend in recent memory, heat exhaustion and heat stroke are very real dangers. The festival will be at Town Point Park Saturday and organizers are getting things ready.

Organizers say they will hand out thousands of bottles of water at the entrance. Fans with misters will be spread out over the grounds, as will shade stations, and the fountains near the Waterside District will be turned on.
And for those who want to have fancy drinks but also want to forego alcohol because it tends to dehydrate you faster, they’ve got you covered.
“Really excited, we’re partnering with Free Life, they’re a non-alcoholic bar,” said Hampton Roads Pride President Jeff Ryder. “So, we’ll have really nice mocktails and juice drinks. We’ll also have standard sodas and juices. But we’re upgrading our non-alcoholic experience with Free Life this year.”
On top of all that, Norfolk Fire-Rescue will be on hand to help anyone in need of aid. The festival will run from noon until 7 p.m. Saturday at Town Point Park.
