Comedian Ben Schwartz, of Parks and Rec fame, teamed up with 12-year-old Ethan LyBrand, the Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) National Ambassador and a comedian in his own right, to share some of their best jokes in honor of National Tell a Joke Day, which fell on Tuesday, August 16.

The two joined forces to raise awareness and funding for the MDA, which has a mission of "empowering the neuromuscular disease community to live longer, more independent lives through accelerating research, advancing care and advocating for access for families."

LyBrand has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder causing severe muscle degeneration and progressive weakness that primarily affects boys. Ethan first became an ambassador for the MDA before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and he spent much of the pandemic telling heartwarming jokes through their social media channels in an effort to spread joy to others.

"I have enjoyed being in this role as it has given me the opportunity to share my story and raise awareness for MDA," Ethan said of being an Ambassador. "MDA is like a second family to me so being able to support MDA in this role has been incredible. Making people smile has made my heart happy!"

Naturally, he's excited to be doing so again, especially with Schwartz on board to help out. LyBrand is a big fan of the actor's work as Sonic the Hedgehog and "hopes that telling jokes together with Ben will continue to be a fun way to spread joy while raising awareness for his illness and the organization."

In the brief video, the two quip back and forth, sharing laughs across several clips.

"What is the most groundbreaking invention?" LyBrand opened with the first joke.

"A shovel!" Schwartz responded before breaking into laughter.

The video then switched to another clip, where Schwartz asked, "You got one more? I can listen to you tell jokes all day. I want one more."

LyBrand seemed to think about it before the video flashed to another clip again. "Why did the football coach go to the bank?" he asked.

"To get his quarter back," Schwartz answered, sending LyBrand into a fit of laughter this time.

Eventually, LyBrand thanked Schwartz for joining him to help spread the word about the MDA. "If you'd like to help MDA, you can go to mda.org right now and donate whatever amount you can," he addressed viewers. "Every penny helps."
