Binghamton celebrates Pride in June: Here's the calendar of 2024 events

As Pride month begins, the Binghamton Pride Coalition has organized a variety of events over the next few weeks.

The Binghamton Pride Coalition was established in 2005 to end oppression based upon sexuality and gender, promote pride and celebrate "queer lives, communities, and cultures in the greater Binghamton area."

From festivals and fireworks to parties and cabaret shows, the month of June is packed with events across the Southern Tier.

Here's how to celebrate Pride month in the Binghamton area:

Saturday, June 1

Pride Flag Raising at 12 p.m. - Pride Month will begin with a flag raising at Binghamton City Hall. Attendees are invited to bring their friends and family to watch Mayor Jared Kraham raise the rainbow flag and listen to speakers including Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, State Senator Lea Webb and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo.

Pride Kick off Party at 8 p.m. - Squiggy's Bar will be hosting a party featuring dancing and karaoke. The event will not have a cover, and will run until midnight. Attendees will be able to enter the preliminaries for the Binghamton Pride Idol Contest, while finals will be held at Pride Palooza the next weekend.

Saturday, June 8

Pride Palooza at 12 p.m. - Pride Palooza, the largest celebration of the month, will be held at Otsiningo Park. Over 70 vendors will fill Otsiningo Park, with live entertainment throughout the day. The day will run until 6 p.m. and feature the finals of the Binghamton Pride Idol Contest, drag performances and a DJ.

Pride Fireworks at 9 p.m. - Fireworks will light up downtown Binghamton with a Pride display on the Martin Luther King Promenade.

Saturday, June 15

Twisted Broadway Fundraiser Cabaret Show at 7:30 p.m. - The show will be held at the Cider Mill Stage for one night only, and will feature Broadway show tunes with a slight twist. The event is a fundraiser for the LGBTQ Scholarship Fund, and tickets are $30.
