Burger Week now underway

Jun. 18—CORBIN — With summer just about in full swing, one of Corbin's most popular food events is making its return.

The 2024 edition of Burger Week began Monday and will run through Saturday, June 22.

Intended to highlight local restaurants and organized by the Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission, Burger Week is one of several food-themed events the city plans throughout the year. Participating restaurants put forth a specialty burger to attract locals and tourists alike, and this year is no different as 13 local restaurants are offering a unique burger experience for customers to enjoy.

This year's participants include Austin City Saloon, Bubby's BBQ, Cinema Social, Depot on Main, Folktale Coffee & Bakehouse, Icehouse Restaurant and Bar, M&M Rooftop Garden, Old Town Grill, Root Beer Stand, Santa Fe Mexican Restaurant, Seasons, Si Senor, and The Wrigley Taproom & Eatery.

The week has been an annual tradition for nine years now, only missing one for the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down most businesses across the country. While the week is fun and easy to enjoy for food lovers everywhere, it also spotlights family-owned restaurants and their role in the local economy.

Since 2018, the public has been able to vote for the coveted People's Choice Award that comes with a traveling trophy.

OTG is the reigning Burger Week People's Choice winner, having won three of the last four years. But the restaurant will have to battle some tough competition for the ninth edition of the event if it hopes to go back-to-back-to-back.

Corbin Tourism Director Nancy Conley and Downtown Coordinator Jacob Roan encourage all Corbin residents to try each specialty burger to support local eating establishments.

"We want everyone to get out and enjoy the culinary creativity Corbin has to offer and vote for your favorite burger," Conley said, noting that voting at www.corbinkytourism.com ends on Wednesday this year.

An ad featuring each dish from participating restaurants appears on Page 10A of this edition. On Thursday, the Times-Tribune will feature another page listing participating establishments, open times, and burger descriptions.
