Cameron Boyce's Family Announced the Cameron Boyce Foundation to Encourage Creativity in Young People

The foundation will work to “provide young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity."

The Descendants star Cameron Boyce passed away at the age of 20 on July 6, and since then, fans and friends have been sharing their memories and supporting one another during a difficult time.

Now, Cameron’s family has launched a foundation to help keep their son’s bright light glowing even after his death, and to help talented young people like Cameron succeed in creative fields. According to People, the Cameron Boyce Foundation works to “provide young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity and uses resources and philanthropy for positive change in the world.”

Cameron’s parents, Victor and Libby, called their son their “shooting star” and told People that though they’re grieving the loss of their son, the foundation will help keep his memory alive. “The pain we have endured and are continuing to endure is indescribable, but we are making every effort to move forward and ensure that Cameron’s legacy and all that he stood for is honored,” they said in a statement.

Giving back was important to Cameron. People also reports that the star was in the midst of launching a media movement against gun violence, which he called Wielding Peace, shortly before his death. (The campaign will go on.)

Cameron’s passion for making the world a better place was contagious; both his co-star Dove Cameron and former First Lady Michelle Obama made statements about Cameron and his kindness and big heart. Now, with the launch of the Cameron Boyce Foundation, Cameron’s passion for helping others and spreading love will live on and change lives — just like the actor himself.
