Downtown Menomonee Falls has a plethora of unique shops. This week, some of those local businesses are inviting the public to create their own products.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 18 to June 22, Downtown Menomonee Falls will have its inaugural Make & Take Shop Hop. This event is for families and children to participate in hands-on activities and create personalized items at the local shops.

Activities include creating watercolor cards and envelopes, customizable aromatherapy products, crystal beaded bracelets, cookie decorating, candle making, body shimmer gels, donut soaps, custom t-shirts and tote bags.

"Menomonee Falls is quickly becoming known for its diverse array of make-and-take activities, positioning itself as a burgeoning destination for those seeking creative experiences," said Ruben Obregon, founder of this event. "The inaugural Make & Take Shop Hop is set to showcase the town's vibrant community and the unique offerings of its local businesses."

What downtown Menomonee Falls business are participating in the Make & Take Shop Hop?

Participating businesses for the Make & Take Shop Hop are Poppy & Thyme, Crazy Grace (an aesthetics shop), Just Kiln' Time (a pottery and craft shop), Art by Terra, Rustic Rehabs and Art Lounge.

Chocolate Falls and Beaded Vision Jewelry are only participating on Saturday.

Is Make & Take the same as DIY activities?

No, this event isn't a "do-it-yourself," or DIY, activity, according to the Make & Take Shop website.

DIY implies that one is doing a project by oneself at home. "Make & Take is a guided experience done in your store," according to the website. "It is not a 'take it home to make it' activity."

If I attend, what shop should I attend first?

Participants can begin at any of the participating locations and then go from shop to shop. Maps to the shops are available at all participating locations. Anyone can show up between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at each location to participate.

How much is it to participate?

The prices and offerings vary by location.
