Cardi B Was the Queen of the iHeartRadio Music Awards
Even when she’s wrong, she’s still right.
Cardi B was the belle of the ball at Sunday night’s iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles, and she dressed the part. Wearing a burgundy tulle dress by Christian Siriano, the 25-year-old rapper took home the award for best new artist, which she dedicated in part to her lovers and haters.
“I wanna thank my fans, Bardi Gang, because even when I’m wrong they be like, ‘She’s still right!’” she said during her acceptance speech. “And I wanna thank my haters too because they be downloading my stuff so they can hear it and talk crap about it, but it benefits me!”
The audience ate it up, including Paris Hilton, who looked at her fiancé, Chris Zylka, and said, “I love her!”
Before giving her speech, where she also announced an April release date for her new album, Cardi B opened the show with a medley of her singles and features, including “Bodak Yellow,” “Bartier Cardi,” and “No Limit.” Her iHeart win is her first award since being nominated for two Grammys earlier this year for best rap performance” and best rap song, both of which she lost to Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble.”
Despite her meteoric rise over the past year, Cardi B seems to be just getting started. As she ended her speech, “Stay tuned, motherf—r!”
