Chi-Chi and Great Dane’s Unlikely Friendship Is Like Something Out of a Storybook
Dogs are a friend to everyone — their humans, doggy day care workers, and especially other pets. In other words, it's no surprise when a dog gets along with another creature. But people are just a little amazed at the near-picture perfect friendship between a Chi-Chi and a Great Dane.
It doesn't matter that they're drastically different sizes, Pete and Dexter are two fur-siblings and the best of friends.
Judging by a video their owner shared online, it seems like the pint-sized Chi-Chi and the Great Dane didn't even realize there was a difference between the two. In their minds, they're evenly matched.

The footage shows 1-year-old Dexter leaning on the couch, while he allows 8-year-old Chi-Chi Pete to paw around on his face. Pete is so hysterically small compared to the giant pup. Even when Dexter seems a little over the attention, Pete is ready to play. Brothers — they really do get on your nerves sometimes.
"Best Buds," his owner joked in the caption.
People online were here for these unlikely pals. "Omg the difference in size yet they get along," one person wrote. "When it cut to the Great Dane awkwardly sitting," another commenter pointed out. "So cute together. That's one beautiful Great Dane," added someone else. "You should find an artist to turn them into story book characters — their friendship is too cute," one person suggested.
Are Great Danes and Chi-Chis Friendly?
Not only are these two wildly different sizes, one would think they could have very different temperaments too. Take Great Danes for instance. These dogs are large and can be intimidating, but inside they're actually quite sweet.
Think of them as being "gentle giants." To the wrong person, a Great Dane can seem like a fierce protector. But get to know one and you'll quickly realize they're friendly. You could even call them people pleasers. They just want to love and be loved.
Chi-Chis (that's a mix of Chihuahuas and Chinese Crested Dogs) are not quite as aggressive as their Chihuahua cousins. These dogs are much more mellow and eager to please. They're like the perfect lap dog. Although they can get a little bit yappy and territorial if they aren't properly trained.
That's sort of why it's even more amazing that these two get along. They're both sweet-tempered doggos who have lots of love to give.
