Clinton, Paxton students gear up for State 4-H Food Challenge

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Students from Clinton High School and Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School will soon face off against each other and three other Illinois teams in the State 4-H Food Challenge.

Last month, the two teams came out on top in the Regional 4-H Food Challenge. Now, they are advancing to the upcoming state competition in Decatur.

It will take place on June 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the University of Illinois Extension Macon County Office.

The 4-H Food Challenge aims to enhance skills that involve teamwork, public speaking, and food safety knowledge. These abilities, mixed with the spirit of competition, are factors that can be beneficial for any career in the food industry.

On Clinton’s team will be Eric Sutton, Izzy Stephenson, Noah Bass, and Aiden Toohill. Paxton-Buckley-Loda’s team includes Lily Anderson, HaleyJo O’Neill, and Theresa Domingo.

The winning team will head to Texas for the National 4-H Food Challenge.
