Dakota Fanning Put a Summer Spin on the Sexy Shoes Reese Witherspoon Wears

Sun’s out, toes out?

As an on-the-go New Yorker, shoes need to be two things: a) Stylish, because I’m living in one of the fashion capitals of the world, and b) comfortable, because I’m not about to be struggling down Fifth Ave. You could say I’m eternally grateful for this new wave of practical shoes, including ballet flats and kitten heels—and Dakota Fanning seems to get it.

Attending The Watchers premiere in London, Fanning wore a breezy strapless dress that included a waist-cinching belt, natural hue, and floral decals at the hem. With the separate hitting her ankles, it’s hard to ignore her fire-red footwear, which is reminiscent of the trendy slingback design everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Kylie Jenner has been wearing. However, Fanning took a sexier approach, ditching the enclosed front; the shoes now toe (wink, wink) the line between heel and sandal thanks to the strappy design.

Kendall Jenner recently wore a similar version to the Met Gala after party, making it a model-approved staple. Better yet, the modest heel height makes them ideal for all-day wearing, unlike the ankle-breaking variations I’ve seen in the past. So, go ahead and wear them to a museum tour, family barbeque, or shopping trip with ease.

The breezy silhouette also makes them a great choice for summer. No one wants sticky, sweaty feet (which inevitably means smelly); these airy slingback heels are like a secret style hack. Plus, they look great with seasonal clothing items, like lightweight knits, maxi skirts, and even cut-off shorts.

There’s no shortage of lookalikes, either. For chili-red versions, consider these luxurious Vagabond sandals or these suede Amazon finds.
