Delano just got a new place to enjoy craft cocktails, pizza seven nights a week
Back in March, Pennant Coffee took over the former Leslie Coffee Co. space at 930 W. Douglas, and it wasn’t long before the new shop was as busy as its predecessor. Most days of the week, Pennant is bustling and busy through the morning and early afternoon hours.
Now, the owners are hoping to attract the same size crowds for their recently added evening attraction, which includes pizza, snacks and craft cocktails.
Pennant is now sharing space with its sister concept, the promised evening cocktail bar Good Company Taps & Spirits. Owners Caleb Porter, Andrew Schwartz and Nick Unruh now are opening Pennant for coffee and breakfast items from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and for cocktails and pizza from 4 p.m. to midnight daily.
They quietly opened Good Company, which operates from a separate bar on the back half of the Pennant space, about a week ago, Porter said.
Good Company is serving the same type of cocktails it offered when it first opened in 2022 at Revolutsia, the shipping container mall at 2721 E. Central. The owners also started serving Detroit-style pizza-by-the-slice at Revolutsia, but because they have more space in Delano, they’re now able to serve full-sized pizzas there.
Starting at 4 p.m. every night, people can get pepperoni, cheese, veggie, and chicken, bacon and ranch pizzas. They also can order things like popcorn, Thai coconut peanuts and marinated vermouth olives. Soon, Good Company will add charcuterie boards to the menu.
“There are definitely more food options,” Porter said. “One thing that we’re really trying to get people to understand is that we’re a dinner option now. You can definitely come for dinner.”
The cocktail menu at the newly opened Good Company includes classics like daiquiris, gimlets, mojitos and margaritas as well as craft cocktails like Strawberry Feels...Forever, made with gin or vodka, strawberry rhubarb lemon cordial, soda and mint, and Broken Bell, made with tequila, Mezcal, lime, Cappelletti, grapefruit, maraschino and grenadine. The bar also has beer and non-alcoholic cocktails. You can see the full menu below.
Pennant closed its tiny coffee shop in Revolutsia when it moved to Delano earlier this year. The Good Company bar in Revolutsia was closed for the last two weeks while the owners got the Delano location set up, but it will reopen on Friday, Porter said. It will continue to serve drinks and pizza slices from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays only.
The partners also have barber shop Fox & Ash attached to Good Company in Revolutsia. Recently, they added a by-appointment-only two-seat barber shop in a former meeting room space in the back of Pennant.
