Remember Tom? From MySpace? Well, Tommy Avallone sure does, as his next documentary will be a deep dive into everyone's favourite forgotten social media site.

Having previously directed docu-series I Love You, You Hate Me and The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man, Avallone is uniting founders of MySpace, Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe, with the site's current owners, Viant Technology, run by Tim and Chris Vanderhook.

Gunpowder & Sky and The Documentary Group will produce, and the doc will also feature appearances from those originally involved in MySpace and a collection of notable figures whose careers kickstarted on the site.

Director Tommy Avallone said, "I remember being on Myspace in the beginning...In fact, Myspace is where I first started talking to my now-wife. It was an amazing time – before our phones took over our lives, the internet was fun, not a responsibility. Myspace was a party you could only join by sitting at a computer, and I'm very excited to tell the origin story of who we have become through social media. I've already put together my Myspace playlist of bangers."
