Domino’s Is Giving Away Free ‘Emergency Pizzas’ for a Limited Time

Domino’s, the country’s largest pizza chain, is looking to entice new users to its loyalty program by offering a free “emergency pizza.”

As part of its continued effort to retool its loyalty policies, Domino’s has hatched the fairly ingenious idea of providing customers with a free medium pizza at a time of their choosing. Anyone who places an order of $7.99 or more at Domino’s between now and February 24, 2024 will receive a code they can use to redeem their emergency pizza.

In order to actually get that pizza, though, customers will need to either login or sign up for Domino’s Rewards within seven days of the initial pizza purchase. Codes are valid for 30 days following the initial order. Obviously, Domino’s is hoping that by having to make an account (or log into their old one again) customers will take a renewed interest in their loyalty program.

The chain announced in September that it would be revamping the program to make it easier for customers to earn points. Now, you get 10 points for each purchase of $5, whereas previously it was 10 points per $10. Freebies and bonuses are also much easier to obtain under the new rules, starting at just 20 points.

Digital ordering has been central to Domino’s strategy in recent years, with 80 percent of its 2022 retail sales placed online. Over the years, the company has experimented with ways to boost its visibility, including an integration with Apple CarPlay. In June, the company announced it would deliver to “a countless number of dynamically created hyper-local spots,” such as beaches and parks, via an innovative pin-dropping system.
