Donald Trump Feuds With Alec Baldwin, or "Alex Baldwin," on Twitter

Donald Trump traded jabs with Alec Baldwin on Twitter, mistakenly calling him "Alex Baldwin" in since-deleted post.

This morning in "What is our President devoting his time to today?," Donald Trump was up early and tweeting about Alec Baldwin, who has become known for his impression of the President. Except that he was tweeting about someone named "Alex Baldwin," in a typo-laden, since-deleted message, which actually referred to the actor, who is, in fact, named Alec, as "Alex," twice.

“Alex Baldwin [sic], whose dieing [sic] mediocre career was saved by his impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing DJT was agony for him,” the president wrote online. “Alex [sic], it was also agony for those who were forced to watch. You were terrible. Bring back Darrell Hammond, much funnier and a far greater talent!” Alec Baldwin has been doing his impression on Saturday Night Live since before the election, but in the years before, it was Hammond who usually parodied Trump on the show.

Trump's tweet-rants usually hint at what he was watching (almost always Fox News) at the time of writing; he likely caught reporting on Alec Baldwin's recent Hollywood Reporter interview in which he said that portraying Trump had become "like agony." "I could go out on the street, stand on any corner and tap 10 people on the shoulder. And all 10 of them, in all likelihood, would be more qualified—ethically, morally, intellectually and spiritually—than Trump," Baldwin continued.

Trump has since replaced the un-copyedited tweet with a new one, but "Alex Baldwin" still appears to be trending, unfortunately. For his part, "Alex" responded on Twitter himself, with a three-part message that included a claim that Melania Trump asks Baldwin for SNL tickets.

Darrell Hammond, Trump’s apparently preferred impersonator, hasn't tweeted since December of last year, but if there were ever a time to pop back up on social media to take sides in a fight between the President of the United States and his impersonator, it's now.
