Ethos Bakery returns + New seafood & bar + Starbucks leaves mall food court

It’s retro week in the Tri-Cities as old favorites return with new looks, locations and even names.

Ethos Bakery & Cafe soft opening

2290 Keene Road

The popular bakery and cafe held a soft opening at its newly built south Richland location over the Memorial Day holiday.

Ethos now offers its coffee, bakery and other items at two Richland spots, at 702 The Parkway, and at the intersection of Keene Road and Queensgate Drive.

Ethos closed its original Keene shop in 2023 while its new full-service bakery was constructed across Queensgate.

Algela Kora and Scot Newell launched Ethos Trattoria in 2011 at the Port of Benton in north Richland. They rebranded and moved to south Richland in 2017.

The new spot was custom built for Ethos by Washington securities & Investment Corp. Hummel Construction & Development built it.

The new building houses all of Ethos’ bakery operations, including baking, milling and coffee. It offers indoor and outdoor seating and a drive-thru.

Wake Up Call reopens Kennewick shop

22 W. Carmichael Drive.

One year after Wake Up Call took over a string of Tri-Cities coffee shops, the Spokane Valley coffee chain has reopened the one closest to Kennewick High School.

Wake Up Call said it reopened the Carmichael location, near Burger Ranch and Big 5 Sporting Goods, after completing a renovation.

The Carmichael coffee shop opened in 2016 as the seventh location for Roasters Coffee, which would sell to Black Rock before being take over by Wake Up Call.

At the time Roasters embraced a cozy, decidedly unpolished vibe, furnishing it with retro sofas and decor.

Wake Up Call announced it had taken over the chain in May 2023.
