Is Facebook for Old People? Teens Are Ditching the Social Network for *This* App

Your mom can’t get enough of it (especially the comment function), and we love it, but apparently, Facebook is no longer cool in the eyes of teenagers.

That’s according to a new report by eMarketer that reveals that teens and young adults are ditching the social network as its popularity among the 55+ set surges.

The market research company predicts that less than half of internet users between the ages of 12 and 17 will use Facebook regularly in 2018. Specifically, they forecast that the number of users aged 12 to 17 will decrease by 5.6 percent, and those from 18 to 24 will decrease by 5.8 percent. Meanwhile, half a million new users aged 55 and up are expected to join by the end of the year.

What gives? Well, apparently young adults are flocking to messaging and multimedia app Snapchat instead.

Hey, with so many cool new emojis coming our way this year, there’s room for everybody—Instagram included.
