The Fate of Disneyland's Indiana Jones Ride Revealed

It's been nearly three months since the ride was last open.

It's the luck of the Irish!

Disneyland's Indiana Jones Adventure ride, known as the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, is set to reopen sooner than you think–like as soon as March 17..

The fast-paced thrill ride has been closed for nearly three months as the park refurbished it, but it's finally set to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 17, according to the park's website–and just in time for the new Indiana Jones movie this summer, might we add.

The attraction, which is located in the theme park's Adventureland section, is "neither a roller coaster nor a slow-speed attraction like the Haunted Mansion," and is based on the classic Indiana Jones franchise. It navigates guests around booby traps while flirting with danger in 12-person vehicles that simulate rough driving over uneasy terrain (including small drops).

"Follow Indy’s footsteps into the crumbling Temple of the Forbidden Eye past intricate booby traps. Inspect carvings and frescos that tell the story of Mara, a powerful deity who promises great treasures—and vengeance to those foolish enough to gaze into its all-seeing eyes," the ride's description reads.

Guests will "inspect carvings and frescos that tell the story of Mara, a powerful deity who promises great treasures—and vengeance to those foolish enough to gaze into its all-seeing eyes" before being transported into the Chamber of Destiny, where they'll have to travel over molten lava and collapsing bridges, past screaming mummies, swarms of giant insects, spear-throwing wraiths, slithering snakes and escape a massive moving boulder.

For those that haven't experienced the Indiana Jones Adventure before, you should know that, due to the ruggedness of the ride, it's one that's geared toward kids over 46" tall, tweens and adults. Disneyland even describes the experience as "dark," "loud," and "scary."

If that sounds like something that's not for you, fear not, there are a few new or reimagined amenities for you to take advantage of, including Mickey's Toontown.
