Will Ferrell Just Went ‘Old School’ and Crashed a Frat Party

Mention Will Ferrell's name and plenty of iconic characters and comedic moments come to mind, from his breakout role in Elf to the endlessly quotable Anchorman. And while kicking back this weekend, the actor ended up reliving his 2003 comedy Old School.

That movie followed Ferrell and a handful of other men approaching middle age who, disillusioned with their lives, try to recapture their glory days from college. And in a case of life imitating art, that's exactly what Ferrell has just done, by gatecrashing a fraternity party at his alma mater of USC, and taking over the decks with a surprise DJ set.

Ferrell, who most recently starred in the record-breaking comedy Barbie, can be seen playing "N***** in Paris" by Kanye West and Jay-Z for the crowd at the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity's tailgating party at USC ahead of the big game against the University of Arizona Wildcats. He then went on to get the crowd going with the classic underdog anthem "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor, in video footage that has blown up on TikTok.

But no, Ferrell wasn't regressing or experiencing a midlife crisis by returning to his old stomping ground, nor was he doing research for a role in Old School 2. He was at USC to visit his son Magnus, who is a sophomore at the college, over Family Weekend.

It's not the first time Ferrell has gone back since his own graduation in 1990: he gave the commencement speech for the graduating class in 2017, and has since contributed to the institution's first-ever full scholarship fund for the women's soccer team.
