First Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League Update Features The Joker

Rocksteady announced their plans for the first Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League update, and leading the way in Season 1 is playable Joker. The news comes just a week after Rocksteady teased Kill the Justice League’s first expansion with a piece of concept art that suggested Joker was coming back in some form.

The free update goes live in March 2024 and sets the pattern for future Suicide Squad seasons, which Rocksteady said will all center on a specific character from the DC Universe.

Playable Joker is just the start of the clown criminal’s moment in the spotlight. Rocksteady is adding a Joker-themed playable area, new missions and strongholds, more bosses, more Riddler puzzles, and pretty much more of everything.

The team has a tidy answer for why Joker is back after Rocksteady’s Batman Arkahm trilogy ended with him in a very much not-alive state. Brainiac, voiced by Jason Isaacs, is creating alternate realities across the worlds called Elseworlds, which gives Rocksteady room to do whatever they like without stepping on the toes of logic and the laws of nature.

Rocksteady didn’t say how long each season will last, but seasons two, three, and four will also add a new playable character each, a new environment each, and a range of new weapons, cosmetics, missions, and more.

If it plays as good as the Kill the Justice League launch trailer looks, we’re all for it.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches for PC and consoles on Feb. 2, 2024.
