Foodie Finds: Make a reservation at the renowned Black Forest Bistro

(BLACK FOREST, Colo.) — Southern Colorado is home to some amazing food spots, but the Black Forest Bistro is rising to the top of Foodies’ lists!

It’s time to make a reservation at the award-winning Black Forest Bistro. This restaurant is known for its high-quality, casual fine dining experience that is great for any occasion and will take your taste buds on a journey you won’t forget.

“We want to give the best service, the best food, and the best drinks to the people who come to see us,” says Chef and Owner Deanna Johnson. “Then you’ll notice a lot of our dishes have influences from around the world. I’ve been very fortunate to travel and cook in all these different countries.”

Plus, Chef Deanna has a family tradition to uphold and a dream she’s now watching come true.

“My family owned restaurants in California. Growing up, my dad had several plus a dinner theater back in the day, so I grew up peeling, literally sitting on the floor, peeling potatoes and carrots with a lot of French chefs,” Johnson shares.

Johnson was approached after a successful run with “Chew-Chew”—the Black Forest Gastrotruck, now taking the chance to stay parked—and let the menu at Black Forest Bistro speak for itself.

The craft cocktails are made with the same care, especially with Bar Manager Flip behind the bar, and diners in the Pikes Peak Region are taking notice!

“When they told me all the awards we had won, it turned out that we had just won 12 Best of the Springs Awards. Legit, I just burst into tears. I’m so proud. We worked so hard that we were only open three nights a week, which was the plan from day one,” expressed Chef Deanna. “So this little place in the Forest, you know, that’s not very big, and a historic building, just won a record Best of the Springs awards.”

Don’t miss Thursdays with Deanna for authentic Italian dishes. They recently bought a 60-pound parmesan cheese wheel from Parma, Italy, and now offer tableside pasta. Enjoy the Cheese Wheel Experience on Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. and Fridays/Saturdays from 7-8 p.m. No other entrees are available during the Cheese Wheel Experience.
