It’s lightweight and buildable.

A month ago, I took a car selfie, and it was the biggest jumpscare. I had done a full face of makeup, and I didn’t know if the product was separating or sliding off my face because it was hot outside. However, I knew a major change in my base foundation routine needed to be made. I’d heard rave reviews about Urban Decay’s new Face Bond Self-Setting Foundation, so I decided to pick up a bottle for myself, hoping it wouldn’t crease, settle into my pores, or turn me into a grease ball—and it checked all those boxes and more.

Urban Decay’s Face Bond Foundation comes in 40 shades, ranging from fair to deep, and offers medium to full coverage, depending on your application technique. The squeeze bottle design dispenses the product out of a precision nozzle, allowing you to get the perfect amount.  It’s formulated with niacinamide, which improves the skin texture over time—plus, it won’t clog pores or cause new breakouts. The foundation provides long-lasting coverage, is lightweight, transfer-proof, and self-setting, so it absorbs sweat and oil that can accumulate throughout the day. It’s also waterproof (thus, also sweat-proof) , making it great for hot summer days.

I have been using the Face Bond foundation for the last month, and I have never gotten this many compliments on my skin. It looks so natural that many people think I have nothing on my face. I apply a few drops to the back of my hands (a little goes a long way) and use a foundation brush to buff the product into my skin, focusing on dark spots and redness. I then spot correct with a second layer, and even the darkest spots are no longer visible. My face feels naked when I have it on, so much so I forget I’m wearing it.

It plays well with my other cream-based products, and the claims that it’s self-setting are true. I’ve gone out without applying powder on top, and the foundation didn’t become oily or shift throughout the day. I also have pores the size of craters, and instead of the foundation settling in them, it created a blurred and less textured appearance that looks like a filter IRL. It didn’t crease under my eyes or amplify my fine lines, and despite it being 80 degrees and me sweating profusely, my makeup didn’t budge. This self-setting foundation is a summer essential, and I don’t plan on using anything else.
