Foster Pittie's Bittersweet Response to Gifted Inflatable Pool Shows Just How Sweet She Is

As the dog days of summer draw closer, most parts of the United States are continuing to heat up. People on both coasts are giving thanks for air conditioning and swimming pools, though not everyone stops to consider whether our furry friends are just as desperate to cool down. It's important to keep pets indoors and hydrated, especially during the hottest parts of the day, but don't overlook fun summertime activities like playing in the water.

Experienced dog foster mom Isabel has plenty of tricks up her sleeve to keep dogs cool and content, but her own dog, Simon, has some unexplained beef with their inflatable pool. Even though he's not a big fan, Isabel was more than happy to bring out the pool for Poutine, her petite and polite foster Pittie.

On June 19, Isabel and her boyfriend prepped the inflatable pool and set up a camera to record. As expected, Simon wanted nothing to do with it, but Poutine's bittersweet reaction shows just what a sweet soul she is.

What a precious pup! Poutine (who is officially adoptable as of June 20) may be a little house hippo, but she was more than willing to give the backyard pool a try. This just proves what a gentle and easygoing girl she is!

Even TikTok viewers could tell by the dog's body language and tolerant facial expression that she wasn't loving the new experience. Commenter @mmmmesssiiii noticed, "Poutine is just there because it makes you happy," and she's probably not wrong! This foster dog does seem to thrive on praise and appeasing her family, even if that means interrupting her afternoon nap to try this pool everyone keeps talking about.

It's probably not a surprise that this Pit Bull princess wouldn't like swimming, but many dogs still enjoy the cool sensation of water on their paws. Some even like to lie down, roll around, and have a party! As Isabel and her boyfriend found out (much to their surprise), other dogs like Simon just need something to play with while in the pool!

Why Only Some Dogs Like Water

It can be difficult to determine why some dogs like or dislike water, but others, like Simon, are truly enigmas. This playful pup surprised everyone by playing fetch in the pool the very next day! For a dog who'd been barking at the pool the day before, this is a massive difference.

It may not be clear why Simon changed his mind, but it's very obvious why some dogs enjoy swimming: they're bred for it! Retriever dog breeds, Newfoundlands, and even Poodles are a few dog breeds that were meant to swim while doing their jobs, though most dogs today will be content just to play in the water on a warm afternoon.
