Free meals available this summer for kids in Harris County

HAMILTON, Ga. (WRBL) — If you’re under the age of 18 and you’re in need of a meal over the summer, the Harris County School District may have you covered.

The school district’s Seamless Summer Food Program aims to keep children nourished during summer break. It’s a federally funded program administered by Harris County School District Nutrition Program when National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program meals aren’t available.

You can find when and where to get a free meal below:

Monday to Thursday Meals* (Excluding June 19 holiday)

  • *All meals received by students at the high school must be consumed on-site in the cafeteria.

  • Dates: June 3 to 27, 2024 (No pick-ups on Fridays, June 19, or the week of July 1-5)

  • Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

  • Lunch: 10 a.m. to Noon

  • Location: Harris County High School (8281 GA-116, Hamilton, GA 31811)”

Weekly Pick-Up of Breakfasts and Lunches for Seven-Days** (Mondays only)

  • “**Parent or Guardian required to pick up seven-day of meals

  • Dates: June 3, 10, 17, and 24; July 8 and 15 (No pick-ups on July 1)

  • Time: 10 a.m. to Noon

  • Location: Park Elementary (13185 US Highway 27 N, Hamilton, GA 31811)”

The school district requires each child to provide a legal first and last name.
