Need a furry friend? Celebrate Adopt-A-Cat Month in June with a rescue pet
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — This summer we embark on the height of “kitten season” — the time when the most large litters of kittens are born and typically end up in shelters.
The abundance of kittens and cats available for adoption in the summer is why the American Humane Association celebrates National Adopt-A-Cat Month, hoping to encourage people to visit their local shelters and rescue operations and adopt cats.
According to American Humane, thousands of newborn kittens join the millions of cats already in shelters, further compounding issues with foot traffic, funding and supplies at those shelters.

Locally, Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC), the Nashville Humane Association, Nashville Cat Rescue, and other organizations, devote time and attention to adoptable rescue cats in Nashville.
According to Taylor Spreitler with Nashville Humane Association, all their adoptable cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations, making them ready to find their “furever home.”

Another way to visit adoptable cats in Nashville is to visit The Catio Cat Lounge. Near the heart of Donelson, The Catio is home to dozens of adoptable cats, all getting proper socialization before they find their forever homes.

Guests can pay a small fee for either a half hour or an hour of cat cuddling time in the Catio’s cage-free environment at the cat lounge. The cats have plenty of toys available for guests to use with them, and the lounge also has small snacks and drinks available for purchase.
A newer addition to the Catio is the Senior Catio, a special space for the older kitties available for adoption to relax with other less energetic cats and kittens. Both the Catio and Senior Catio are located on Music Valley Drive and have spots available for booking special cat time for those inclined.
