If you haven’t yet heard of The Mada App you likely will be hearing a lot about it very soon as REVOLVE and FRWD (Revolve’s luxury sister site) just launched on the interactive shopping and style app. The app was founded by Madison Semarjian, a Gen-Z college graduate turned entrepreneur who created it so that customers could see different ways to style their purchases, while also discovering new wardrobe items.

We chatted with the fashion expert and asked her to dish on the Gen Z styling trends she’s seeing all over.

Feathers

“In a post-covid world, fashion has leaned into indulgence and opulence in the ‘night luxe’ scene. We are seeing feathers everywhere— trimmed on blouses, covering dresses, detailing shoes, etc.”

2000s footwear

“Y2K seems to always be back in style, but this season Gen Z is loving a modern twist on early 2000s mall-going footwear. Uggs are back, with new designs like the viral micro minis and platforms. Then there’s the resurgence of the classic Boston Birkenstocks, with trendier takes like shearling.”

Midi and Maxi Skirts and Dresses

“While miniskirts were popular last spring, hemlines drop dramatically this winter. Our bolder Mada users are experimenting with denim midi and maxi skirts, while our more conservative dressers reach for cashmere or wool maxi skirts and dresses.”

Cutouts

“Unexpected cutouts elevate basics this season. Exposed-hip jeans, cold-shoulder sweaters, and midriff baring dresses are unexpected twists to wardrobe staples.”

Oversized Outerwear

“The bigger the coat the better. This season, the coat is the outfit. Think boxy blazers with dramatic shoulders, oversized wool coats, and massive puffers.”
