SPECIAL HOST: Giorgio Armani has booked a little trip to New York for this fall.

The designer is headed Stateside to celebrate the opening of his company’s new building on Madison Avenue, entirely redesigned to include residential units, an Armani/Ristorante and the new Giorgio Armani and Armani/Casa boutiques.

Scheduled for Oct. 17, the opening event will also comprise a fashion show, to be followed by a party.

The project cements the designer’s close bond with the city and marks a return to New York for Armani himself, who previously staged one of his One Night Only multifaced events in town in 2013.

“I am delighted to return to New York to celebrate this very important project. My time in this city has always been significant and has marked key moments in my career,” said Armani in a statement. “The opening of Madison Avenue is an important personal milestone because it crystallizes my vision of style in the city that was perhaps the first to truly embrace it.”

At the time of his last trip, former mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaimed Oct. 24 — the day of the One Night Only event — Giorgio Armani Day. The honor recognized Armani’s longtime relationship with the city, including his contribution to the local economy and support for public schools.

As reported, the event was staged at the SuperPier at Hudson River Park and drew some 700 friends, family, loyal Armani clients, editors and high-caliber celebrities, including Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lauren Hutton and Renée Zellweger, among many others.

Through the years, the designer staged other “One Night Only” soirées around the world, including London in 2006, Tokyo in 2007, Beijing in 2012, Rome in 2013 and Paris in 2014. More recently, the format touched base in Dubai in 2021 and in Venice last year.
