What To Know Before Adopting an English Bulldog

English Bulldogs are sweet, dependable, gentle and require minimal exercise. They are also prone to health issues like brachycephalic airway obstructive syndrome, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and skin allergies. They need an owner who knows how to display strong leadership and who understands alpha canine behavior. A Bulldog that knows his place in the human pack is nice and reliable with all people.

Bulldogs generally live 10-12 years, and it's important to get one from a breeder who can answer any questions you have, as well as let you meet the puppy parents and let you know if the puppies have been socialized with other dogs and cats. Bulldogs require the same thing any other dog does, love, care, affection and exercise, and they also require special skin cleaning because the folds of their skin can be prone to harboring bacteria that can cause rashes.

There are also numerous bulldog rescues in the United States, so check in your area for adoptable dogs that need a loving forever home.
