Granite City neighbors paint street in longtime July 4th tradition

GRANTIE CITY, Ill. – One group of neighbors in Granite City painted their street in red, white and blue colors on Saturday, carrying on a longtime tradition to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Residents along Cleveland Boulevard have now painted their street for more than two decades in celebration of the holiday.

More bear cub sightings reported in St. Louis County

Organizers say painting the street is an all-day project that looks to raise spirits for the Fourth of July. Work began at 9 a.m. and will continue well into the evening.

Neighbors and other in the Granite City community took time to help, working on several designs to spice up the street.
