What happens in They Cloned Tyrone?

The Netflix film follows drug dealer Fontaine (played by John Boyega), who is attempting to collect debts owed to him. When he gets into a fight with nemesis Isaac (Alphonse Nicholson), he is shot, but is surprised to find himself alive and completely fine the next day. Also in shock, his friends, Slick Charles and Yo-Yo, decide to investigate what's going on, and raid a secret lair under a decrepit house to find an experiment where a man's body is on a table. They realise people are being cloned.

Confused, they run away, only for Fontaine to return the next day and find nothing there. Adamant that something bigger's at play, he continues his search, and is led underneath a church by a homeless man, where they find another hideout. Inside, Fontaine discovers his own clones.

Yo-Yo and Slick Charles then put their heads together, and realise people's minds are being controlled by the fried chicken they eat, hair products they use and music they listen to, and take it upon themselves to uncover who's behind the weird goings on.

The final scenes see them raid another lair, with Isaac's help, to discover the truth: the original Fontaine (Old Fontaine) is actually behind all of it. Old Fontaine is working with the government to create clones, in an attempt to make everyone look the same and eradicate race. He explains the death of his brother Ronnie, who was mercilessly killed as a child due to hate crime, is the reason he wanted to get involved.

The ending of They Cloned Tyrone, explained

After uncovering the neighbourhood goings on, Yo-yo decides to send the story to the press to expose what's going on. However, she's intercepted by Nixon (Kiefer Sutherland) who plans to use her as a lab rat by dying her hair with his mind control products. But what they don't realise is it's actually a wig. She pretends to fall unconscious, later freeing herself - just in time for Fontaine, Slick, and Issac’s arrival.

As they begin to destroy everything in the lab, Nixon chases Yo-yo and Slick, who uses one of his clones to lure Nixon into an unsafe position, where he is shot dead by the real Slick. Fontaine's clone then finds the real Fontaine, uses the codeword to control another clone Chester, and kills Old Fontaine.

The media then rushes to cover the story, just as the clones are all freed from the undercover lab. Yo-yo, Slick and Fontaine creates plans to locate and destroy all the cloning labs across the country, understanding that they don't want any other of their clones to be living their lives in captivity.
