Having fun and beating the heat during the summer

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – School is out and summer is on! Our beautiful parks, just like Glenwood Recreational Park, are a hotspot for kids and adults of all ages. Keeping cool is one of the main worries for parents, however.

Don’t worry! Glenwood recreational park has a ton of activities that can keep you cool as a cucumber while having fun! Ty Thompson, a maintenance worker at the park, gave a rundown of activities for you and your kiddos.

“Here we have a really nice playground up top. We have shelters that you can also rent out to do whatever it is you want to do,” said Thompson.

Not only are there activities you can participate in on land, but don’t forget the water too! The park is famous for their leisure paddle boarding strolls.

Thompson says he is seeing an abundance of kids visiting the parks and having fun.

“A lot of kids come here and use the playgrounds. We have a playground by the lake and one on top that kids like to play on,” said Thompson.

National parks are free to visit for one day this week

So, if you are looking for some fun summer activities to enjoy while also keeping cool and safe, don’t forget those natural playgrounds that might be right in your backyard.
