Healthy Habits: Why hydration is important
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Hydration is not only important during the summer but important all year round.
University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Dietitian Sarah Smith joins Jorma and Megan on the red couch to talk about the importance of hydration.
“It’s probably one of the most diet aspects,” said Smith. “Because when we have good hydration, then that ensures that most of our bodily functions are working properly.”
Here are some reasons why hydrating your body can be impactful to your health:
Improved digestion
Weight management
Increased energy
Healthy skin
Improved circulation/ blood flow
It’s important to notice the signs of dehydration. Here are some signs to look out for:
Fatigue
Clammy skin/ flushed face
Dizziness/ headaches
Nausea/ vomiting
Smith says to make infused water with fresh fruit for those who are not water drinkers.
