Temperatures are already tipping the thermometer to the highs 80s and it isn't even officially the start of summer.

Where can you find relief from the heat beside heading to the local beaches?

Here is a list of public swimming pools, splash pads and water parks in the Wilmington area to help you find some relief.

New Hanover

Earl Jackson Pool and Splash Pad

Managed by NSEA Swim, located in Northside Park, 750 Bess St., Wilmington. Pool hours now are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Summer hours beginning Monday, June 10 for the pool will be 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily. Splash pad 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Admission fees: $1 ages 1-17; $3 ages 18 and over. 910-833-5455.

Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park

Located at 5320 Oleander Drive in Wilmington, the water park is open June 6-Aug. 26, 31, Sept. 1-2 and Sept. 7, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit https://junglerapids.com/water-park/. More details, call 910-791-0666.

Legion Stadium Swimming Pool 

Operated by YMCA of Southeastern NC, hours for the open public swim at 2131 Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington are 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission: $4 adults (18 and older), $2 children (17 and younger). Age policy: 13 and under is required to be under adult supervision of someone 16+ years old. Fourteen and older do not need an adult and may bring siblings ages 7 and up. Ages 18 and under must have parent/guardian fill out registration paperwork upon first visit. Long Leaf Park splash pad

At 314 Pine Grove Drive in Wilmington, it's open daily 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. May 1-Sept. 30. Loaner water wheelchair available for those whose mobility devices cannot tolerate moisture. To use the water wheelchair, contact New Hanover County Parks & Gardens at 910-798-7620.

Robert Strange Pool

Operated by YMCA of Southeastern NC, the open public swim at 401 S. 10th St. in Wilmington is 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Thirteen and under is required to be under adult supervision of someone 16+ years old. Fourteen and older do not need an adult and may bring siblings ages 7 and up. Brunswick

Magic Mountain Water Park

The water park has three adult water slides and two children's slides. The park is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday through Labor Day and is located on the causeway at Holden Beach at 3996 Holden Beach Road. Guests under 4 feet tall can enjoy the water slides all day for $12, and for those taller than 4 feet, a day pass is $25. For more, call 910-842-2727.

Oak Island Splash Pad at Middleton Park

Located at 4601 E. Oak Island Drive, it offers water activity featuring spraying water and water features. The splash pad is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Rentals are available for the splash pad. Splashpad rental form available here. Details: 910-201-8015.

Ocean Isle Beach Splash Pad

Located at Town Center Park at 11 E. Second St., it offers a splash pad facility along with other amenities. The splash pad is free and open seasonally. It closes at dusk. Details: 910-579-2166 or visit the website.
