New to Huntsville? Go Rocket City events aim to connect young professionals and interns

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — If you are or know of someone new to the Rocket City, the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce is set to host connection opportunities for young professionals and interns this summer.

‘Go Rocket City!’ is a program put on by the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce to connect people together by immersing them in the best Huntsville has to offer.

Events start on June 6 and continue through July 25 and signups are open!

June 6 is a Kickoff Mixer at the Orion Amphitheater’s Apollo Park. The mixer is from 5-7 p.m. and will have food, drinks and the chance at a backstage tour of the amphitheater.

June 13’s ‘Rocket to the Tropics‘ will be hosted at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Attendees can visit this come-and-go event from 4:30 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. There will be tropical cuisine, drinks and live music under the Saturn V Rocket.

June 18’s event is a ‘Nacho Average‘ networking event at the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce’s building. It will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Talent Management Consultant Jillian Miles Massey will speak about her experiences in the workforce.

The last event for June will be a service day on June 20. Campus 805 will host the United Way Day of Service and attendees can pack a backpack to provide school supplies and resources to members of the community.

July only poses two events. The first will be July 16 at Yellowhammer Brewing from 5:30-7 p.m. Pizza and sodas will be provided while Huntsville Housing Authority representatives Terica Pope and Quinton Young share tips and tricks about the area.

The final event for young professionals and interns will be a night at Toyota Field on July 25. For National Intern Day, Go Rocket City! will buy you a ticket and a ballpark meal to celebrate all of your summer accomplishments. The game will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to your game ticket and concession voucher, attendees have access to the exclusive party deck for the night.
