March is a big month for me and my mom, given that our birthdays are just four days apart. We’re big on hosting epic parties, and you can bet that we’re going all-out celebrating this year. But before we blow out our candles, it’s time to shop! Being my mom’s designated personal shopper, I picked out some new spring clothing pieces to throw into her rotation, and of course, added some finds for upcoming celebrations. We took to her favorite store (aka Nordstrom) and rounded up 10 spring-ready pieces from Madewell, Tory Burch, and Levi’s that she can wear casually or to birthday festivities.

Petal and Pup Achanti Print Pleated Maxi Dress

My mom’s spring uniform? Floral dresses, so it’s no surprise that she can’t see herself wearing any other pattern on her birthday. Her current favorite brand for bloom-printed dresses is Petal and Pup and she hasn’t been able to stop thinking about its Achanti Print Pleated Maxi Dress. It features a structured bodice with pleated cups, dainty adjustable spaghetti straps, a smocked back for a comfortable fit, and ankle-length pleated skirt. There’s an invisible zipper at the back for easy on and off and a partial lining for added coverage. It comes in a multi-colored abstract floral pattern and sizes S through XL.
Treasure and Bond Oversize Cotton Button-Up Shirt

My deep love for a crisp button-down shirt came from my mom. It can easily be dressed up with a denim or satin skirt or more casually with linen trousers or jeans. And though my mom’s button-up shirt collection is top-tier, she says she just has to have this one from Treasure and Bond. The shirt is made from 100 percent cotton so it’s lightweight and breathable, has one functional patch pocket on the chest, a button-front closure, and buttons on the sleeves that can be undone and rolled up. The oversized collared shirt comes in a classic white color and sizes XXS through XL, though keep in mind that the body has a loose, relaxed fit that falls at the mid-thigh.
Mango Denim Midi Skirt

If my mom’s not wearing a floral printed maxi dress, she’s in a pastel-color blouse and denim skirt. The silhouette of her go-to is a bit out of style, so we both agreed that this Mango Denim Midi Skirt would be a great upgrade. The high-waisted skirt comes in a rich blue wash and sizes XS through XL; it’s made from 100 percent cotton, so there’s no stretch. It has a classic button and zipper closure and midi-length that falls a few inches above the ankle depending on your height. There are also two spacious front and back pockets and a front slit for ease of movement.
