Inaugural Rumble Through the Valley set for Peoples Natural Gas Park

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – This event will bring the roar back to Johnstown.

Rumble Through the Valley will be held Saturday with main activities to be held at Peoples Natural Gas Park, 90 Johns St., downtown Johnstown.

The inaugural festival is being organized by local business leaders to raise funds to bring Rumble Through the Valley to Johnstown with a multi-day event beginning in 2025. Funds will be used to create a nonprofit business organization to make the future event a reality.

“We’re focusing on a few things for one day so we can get it right,” said Duaine Detrick, vice president of Rumble Through the Valley.

“Our goal is once we have seed money and can form our actual business to bring back a multi-day festival. We’d love to be able to do three days next year with more activities, but in order to do that we have to get some money in the bank.”

The day will kick off at 10 a.m. with Rumble Run at Woodside Bar & Grill, 430 Highland Park Road, Johnstown.

The motorcycle run, organized and sponsored by Pennsylvania Bikers for Liberty and Union, will include stops at Jim & Jimmies along Somerset Pike, a blessing of bikes at Holy Trinity Church in Ligonier, Stadium Pub & Grille in downtown Johnstown and conclude at Peoples Natural Gas Park.

Donation fee is $20 for one rider or $30 for two riders, and includes breakfast at Woodside Bar & Grill and admission to Peoples Natural Gas Park.

At noon, a classic car cruise will be held in the parking lot at Suppes Ford, 101 Main St., downtown Johnstown.

“That’s a $5 donation, and the first 50 drivers will receive a goody bag,” Detrick said. “That also includes admission to the park.”

The 21-and-over activities at Peoples Natural Gas Park will include food and business vendors, live music, games, the Pennsylvania National Guard rock climbing wall and Locked In Westmont Escape Room.

“There’s going to be three different bar areas set up, plus a VIP section,” Detrick said.

Musical entertainment will be offered from Boomtown from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by the Frick Brothers from 2 to 4 p.m., Blood Union from 4 to 6 p.m. and Octane from 7 to 10 p.m.

Admission to the park will be $5 before 5 p.m. and $10 after 5 p.m.

Detrick said feedback to the event has been positive with support from not only the community, but also business people from across the region.

“Everybody is glad we’re doing something, saying it’s better than nothing,” he said.

“People have been wanting to help us get the word out, and everybody wants this to do well.”
