Inside Kith’s First Standalone Women’s Store in its Former Atrium Home + Retailer Taps New Creative Director

Kith mastermind Ronnie Fieg told FN this fall he had plans to open one more store before year’s end, and stated it’s going to be “very important to the company.” That boutique is here.

Kith — winner of the 2023 FN Achievement Award for Retailer of the Year — is opening its first women’s standalone store in New York’s bustling SoHo neighborhood. The 644 Broadway location should look familiar to longtime fans of Kith: it’s the home of the first Manhattan Kith flagship, which opened in 2011 as a shop within Atrium.

While Fieg has been steadily building his women’s shoe business in the past few years, this move will be his biggest bet yet on the market at a time of change and challenge across fashion.

The space is built using materials that Kith described as “modern elegance” that offers a “warm and calming aura,” such as Venetian Plaster, Travertine and Rosa Aurora stone. Inside, shoppers will find the Kith Women in-house brand, as well as ready-to-wear apparel, accessories and footwear from other leading labels. What’s more, the location will feature an in-shop cafe and greenery space, delivered in partnership with New York-based flower and plant shop PlantShed.

The main room will showcase its Kith Women collection, as well as multibrand apparel and accessories. The room was designed using Venetian Plaster walls and ceiling with walnut trim and brass accents, as well as Kith Monogram suede wallpaper on the apparel racks and oak-patterned flooring with grand walnut trim. It also features three custom display cases created by Brooklyn, N.Y.-based woodworker brand Mark Jupiter that are made with walnut with Rosa Aurora stone, brass metal drawers and an olive tree centerpiece.

The footwear space features a grand arched plaster ceiling, travertine shelves and a custom Viabizzuno chandelier. The adjacent fitting rooms, Kith explained, include walnut frames and custom walnut benches, which were also created by Jupiter.

Lastly, the store is completed by the Kith Women PlantShed Cafe. Kith described this as a “welcoming lounge area that serves light bites, drinks” that leads to an outdoor courtyard, and also offers custom floral arrangements for sale.

The Kith Women’s store opens on Friday, Dec. 15.

For the retail portion, hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET, and Sunday from 11 a.m. ET to 7 p.m. ET.

As for the PlantShed, hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET, and Sunday from 9 a.m. ET to 7 p.m. ET.

Kith also confirmed it will release the Kith Women Winter Monogram 2023 collection as a means of celebration. This will include outerwear, shirting, pants, accessories and more. The collection will arrive alongside the store opening on Dec. 15 at 11 a.m ET at all Kith shops, as well as online via Kith.com, CA.Kith.com, EU.Kith.com. It will also be available on the Kith App.

Aside from the store opening, Kith revealed on Monday that it has hired Dutch designer Daniëlle Cathari as its new creative director, as reported by WWD.

Fieg was busy expanding the Kith brick-and-mortar footprint in 2023, opening four stores before Monday’s announcement of the women’s outpost. Most recently, Kith debuted its much-anticipated Toronto flagship on Sept. 22, marking Kith’s entrance into Canada.

The store openings began in January with a Beverly Hills, Calif., store spanning 5,500 square feet (Kith’s second in Los Angeles). From there, it debuted two stores in March: one in Miami in the city’s upscale Design District, and one in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood.
