When it comes to making a fashion-forward yet deeply personal style statement, there's no more versatile accessory than the silk scarf. Consider yourself a modernist, favoring simple, graphic designs in neutral colors? There's a scarf for you. Prefer a more painterly, romantic style? There's a scarf for you too. Passionate about historic architecture and gardens? Thanks to J.McLaughlin, there's now a scarf for you.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, which is dedicated to preserving the town's unique architectural and cultural heritage, J.McLaughlin has designed a limited-edition silk scarf inspired by an iconic Palm Beach garden just a block away from Worth Avenue.

The scarf features a motif inspired by a tile detail from the historic Casa Apava wall fountain in Pan's Garden, a half-acre site adjacent to the Preservation Foundation headquarters. Formerly a parking lot, the garden is planted with hundreds of native species, some of which are endangered, and is intended to teach Palm Beach residents about how landscaping with indigenous plants can reduce reliance on pesticides and create habitats for butterflies, bees, and birds.

The wall fountain dates back to 1918, when it was designed by architect Abram Garfield (son of President James Garfield) for Casa Apava. It was later donated for installation in the garden by Broadway producer Terry Allen Kramer.

The scarf is one of three items in a capsule collection J.McLaughlin is launching today in support of the Preservation Foundation. A cashmere sweater and men's belt, both of which feature the foundation's logo of three palm trees connected to create arches, round out the collection.
