When I find something I love, I will wear it into the ground. So as an outfit repeater, it didn’t take me long to notice that Jennifer Lawrence has some of those same tendencies. I mean, she practically lives in Adidas Sambas. But lately, it’s not one item she's been wearing over and over again but rather a combination—and it’s not nearly as low-key as those sneakers.

Since last summer, Lawrence has been wearing mesh flats, the controversial, outfit-elevating shoe that’s almost like lingerie for your feet. So when she broke them out again this spring, I was curious how she was styling them, and discovered that, more often than not, she relies on the same outfit formula, pairing her barely-there flats with flattering, wide-leg jeans. The two are the antithesis of one another—light, skin-baring shoes with heavy, oversized jeans—and I couldn’t be more in love. So, rather than just looking for mesh flats, I found myself also searching for the perfect wide-leg jeans to go with them. For starters, I almost always prefer my flats to have a strap, but I also love how the solid black leather details at the strap and across the toe contrast the mesh.
