Kim Kardashian's whirlwind day in D.C. isn't without 'kontroversy'

Kim Kardashian is passionate in her quest to get Alice Marie Johnson pardoned.

Despite an icky history with Donald Trump, the reality TV star and beauty mogul suited up in her business best and crossed the country on Wednesday to meet the president in the White House. There, they discussed the 63-year-old great-grandmother, who has been behind bars for more than two decades for a first-time drug offense.

Trump shared a photo of them in the Oval Office, saying the meeting about prison reform and sentencing went “great.”

Kardashian, who was accompanied by attorney Shawn Holley, had this to say:

We say “icky” because Trump for years has publicly made crude comments about Kardashian related to her body, calling it “bad,” saying she has a “fat ass,” and criticizing how she dressed during one of her pregnancies. And they’ve known each other since 2010, when Kardashian appeared on Celebrity Apprentice. Despite the president’s remarks, Kardashian — who publicly supported Hillary Clinton during the election — put her best foot forward in an attempt to help Johnson, whom Kardashian has been working for months to free with the help of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

The Donald lover Kanye West was probably thrilled to see his bride bond with the president — and the first family. Kardashian saw Kushner at the White House, but she later visited his home for more face time with him and Ivanka. The Daily Mail has photos of Kardashian and Holley inside with the power pair as well as arriving and leaving.

While Holley and an attorney for Johnson reportedly liked the way the meeting with Trump went, Kardashian’s do-gooding didn’t buy her any points with the New York Post. The tabloid’s attempt to riff on the “Trump-Kim” summit failed by focusing on Kardashian’s body rather than the work she was doing. The cover read, “The Other Big Ass Summit: Trump Meets Rump,” with a subhead calling her “Kim Thong Un,” and there were multiple references to her ass in the story.

Kardashian’s visit to the White House did lead to a lot of jokes — like Ed Asner saying, “I am having an acid flashback” — but people rushed to her defense over the sexism. Two comments came from Holley and one of Johnson’s attorneys, Brittany K. Barnett.

CNN’s Don Lemon called the New York Post cover “appalling.”

Alyssa Milano was firmly on Team Kim.

Other folks called out the newspaper as well.

Of course, others loved it.

None of this will really matter if Kardashian gets her wish and Johnson gets out of prison. So far, Trump hasn’t made his decision. However, on Thursday he did pardon conservative author Dinesh D’Souza. He’s also mulling over whether to pardon Martha Stewart and commute the sentence of imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
