La Niña Churros bring vibrant new churro flavors to Troy

A new churro restaurant has opened in Troy with vibrant, creative twists on the classic Hispanic cinnamon-and-sugar-sprinkled sweet treat.

La Niña Churrería opened on May 20, offering churros filled, dipped, drizzled, heart-shaped, topped with gelato and almost any other ingredient that you could imagine.

Owner Maria Cristina Aldana, who began her fried dough journey selling buñuelos in small towns in Mexico, says that La Niña Churrería is more than a restaurant: it's a testament to the power of ambition and the belief that anything is possible with dedication and hard work.

The restaurant makes a variety of churros of different sizes and tastes, including a menu of 7-inch specialty churros with flavors like tiramisu, pina colada, pistachio raspberry, chocolate hazelnut, s'mores, even mango habanero and more.

They also offer a dozen gelato flavors and frozen yogurt with a long list of fruit and candy toppings from which to choose. Along with a typical coffee and tea menu, the eatery also offers a familiar spiced Mexican hot chocolate and famously thick and silky Spanish hot chocolate.

La Niña Churrería at 2886 W Maple Rd. in Troy is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays and 4-10 p.m. on Mondays.
