Local runners sharpen self-defense skills in case of emergency

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte runners are trying to keep themselves safe.

The effort comes after joggers have been attacked in recent years along the greenways.

Runners want cameras installed along Charlotte greenways as safety concerns mount

On Saturday morning, runners sharpened their self-defense skills.

“It’s great to have your own personal defense capabilities if anything happens so that you can take care of yourself or your loved ones. Being in well-lit areas, having security cameras, all of that’s great,” said Amber Hoover with the Charlotte Running Club. “But at the end of the day, it’s really on you to own your safety. And that’s what we want people to be able to do.”
