Meghan Markle Is Bringing Back *This* Neckline and We're So Into It

We don’t know about you, but we’re still obsessing over Meghan Markle’s next-level Givenchy wedding gown. While we love just about every part of it, the boat neck shape gives us serious outfit lust. In fact, Markle’s been rocking this neckline quite a bit recently. It’s flattering and stylish and seriously trendy right now. As in, Pinterest searches for "bateau necklines" (you know, French for boat) are up 104 percent. Care to copy?

Olive Green Ralph Lauren

For Prince Louis’s christening, Aunt Meg (we hope that’s what George, Char and Louis call her) opted for a very matchy-matchy olive look. We wouldn’t normally wear the same color dress, fascinator and shoes, but the Duchess is making a mighty fine case for monochromatic coordination.

Double-Breasted Prada

If you had described this look to us—double-breasted, sort of skirt suit in blush—we’d have assumed it was a little frumpy. Instead, Meghan makes it looks incredible with the belted top and short sleeves. Take note of her contrasting black accessories, which keep things modern and fresh.

Belted Dior

Dare we say this is our favorite MM boat-neck look so far? Markle took this baby for a spin earlier this month and we’re so glad she did. In addition to looking like it was pulled straight from the Audrey Hepburn archive (a compliment of the highest order), the fit is nothing short of gorgeous.

Ruffled Roland Mouret

Markle turned to one of her longtime favorite designers and friends, Roland Mouret, to outfit her for a recent visit to Ireland. The asymmetrical ruffle adds the perfect amount of intrigue and drama to an otherwise conservative frock—and we’re here for it.

ShowStopping Givenchy

We know we already gushed over the long-sleeved Dior dress, but this has to take the cake. Here’s what the fine folks at Givenchy had to say about why a boat neck is so popular: “The graphic open bateau neckline gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasizes the slender sculpted waist.” Good enough for us.
