These Miami bakeries are among the best in the country, says this French dining guide

A French dining guide has just announced the winners of its annual pastry awards — and several Miami-area bakeries have made the list of the best in the United States.

La Liste, a global ranking and dining website and app, highlighted seven Miami spots in its awards for 2024:

Bachour: In addition to its gorgeous baked goods, Bachour serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner; 2020 Salzedo St., Coral Gables

Edda’s Cake Designs: This bakery, which first opened in 1978, specializes in cakes for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other events; 4315 SW 72nd Ave., Miami and 2549 NW 79th Ave. Doral

Julia & Henry’s: The downtown Miami food hall earned recognition for two of its vendors: the vegan bakery L’Artisane and Baklava Bakery, which serves Middle Eastern pastries; 200 E. Flagler St., Miami,

La Migaja Mexican Bakery: Tucked away inside Mi Rinconcito Mexicano on Calle Ocho, this Mexican bakery also specializes in cakes, particularly its famous Day of the Dead creation; 1963 SW Eighth St., Miami

Zak the Baker: This colorful kosher bakery in Wynwood owned by Zak Stern sells pastries but is best known for its bread, particularly its excellent sourdough and challah; 295 NW 26th St., Miami

Puerto Rican-born pastry master Antonio Bachour, famous for the Bachour restaurant in Coral Gables as well as the Design District restaurant Tablé, was also singled out for the Pastry Innovation Award, presented to a pastry chef who demonstrates new and creative business ideas.

La Liste uses data analysis to aggregate the top restaurants via almost 1,000 international sources, including the press, customer ratings, awards and rankings from other restaurant guides. Jörg Zipprick, co-founder and Editor in Chief, likens it to Rotten Tomatoes for food or Metacritic for video games.

“This not only allows international coverage, we can also spot new trends and how they’re being interpreted by different media very quickly,” he said in a statement.

Other U.S. winners include Dominique Ansel in New York, who won the Pastry Game Changer Award, which goes to a pastry chef who has changed industry culture through innovation, engagement and education (Ansel is the creator of the cronut). Also honored was Margie Lorenzana Mankzke of Republique Café in Los Angeles, who won the Pastry Talent of the Year Award.
