MS Coast sports bar celebrated first anniversary this month. We gave its pizzas a try

The make up of Pass Road is constantly evolving and one of its younger establishments turned one year old this month.

The G.O.A.T. Sports Bar and Pizzeria has drawn positive reviews for its laid back atmosphere and the element that sets itself apart from many other sports bars in the area: pizza.

Located at 1913 Pass Road in Biloxi, the pizzeria and bar is a two-story building with a spacious interior and sectioned seating that acts as another separator from other bars.

There are two floors of seating with the second floor balconied over the bar and overlooking the dining area. The main dining room has a high ceiling, several TVs, a Golden Tee arcade game and posters of sports legends Kobe Bryant, Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky and others.

The bar rests under the balcony and has a wooden motif that gives it a cozy feel.

Women’s college lacrosse (Florida -2 vs Maryland did not hit) and a week 11 game from 2000 between the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans played on the TVs on this Thursday afternoon.

I could’ve gone in the evening when the atmosphere picked up and a Game 6 battle between Anthony Edwards and Nikola Jokic dominated the screens, but I was a man on a mission.

No distractions. Only pizza. And garlic knots.

I could’ve taken home their entire supply of garlic knots, but that’s mostly because I have a deep-rooted love for garlic knots.

They were good, though. And they were enjoyed while I played Would You Rather on the TV trivia screen (sorry boss, I’m obviously choosing to oversleep every day for a week over not sleeping for four days).

I ordered two pizzas: the BBQ chicken pizza and The G.O.A.T. Both at 12 inches.

The BBQ chicken pizza is a classic with a barbecue sauce base and blackened chicken as the main topping. It’s also topped with onion and red and green pepper. This was my favorite of the two. It carried a strong mesquite taste that put it well above any delivery option. I had it for breakfast the next day.

The G.O.A.T. is The G.O.A.T.’s supreme offering. It’s piled with pepperoni, sausage, black olive, onion, bell pepper, mushroom and tomato.

This was a good pie and a tasty option to add to your supreme rotation.

Also on the menu is the afredo-based pizza blanco, an all-veggie pizza, buffalo chicken and others. But there’s more than just pizza here. The daily special during my trip was southern fried chicken or hamburger steak with mashed potatoes.

Starters include house egg rolls, fried mushrooms and garlic cheese bread. Other entrees on the menu are the po’boys, burgers, sandwiches and seafood baskets.

The G.O.A.T Sports Bar and Pizzeria is open from 11 a.m. to midnight.
