Nixa's swimming pool will reopen Monday after a yearlong closure for repairs

Following a year of closure, the Nixa Aquatics Center is ready to reopen its outdoor swimming pool next week.

The Nixa Aquatics Center pool will open Monday, June 10. The pool will be open from 1-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The pool will be available for children splash time between 10-11:15 a.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday and lap swimming from 8 a.m. to noon to Monday and 8-11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Admission is $5 for Nixa residents, $6 for non-Nixa residents and children under the age of two get in for free. Pool season passes and punch passes are available for purchase at The X Center in Nixa.

The Nixa Aquatics Center closed its pool throughout the 2023 summer due to a "significant leak" that was discovered ahead of pool season. The leak came from a 90-degree pipe fitting that had cracked about 8 feet under the pool deck, resulting in the loss of more than 50,000 gallons of water a day.

In total, the project cost more than $1.4 million, including $1.35 million to repair the pool leak and renovate the aquatic center's filtration house and $50,000 for the installation of shade canopy structures, according to the City of Nixa website.

Nixa City Council allocated $100,000 for the pool's repair, which included the replacement of all underground recirculation piping within the pool area, addition of a concrete pool deck space with more shade structures, the installation of a water play structure, and rehabilitation of the pipes and filters within the pool's pumphouse.

Additionally, a splash pad will be added to the Nixa Aquatics Center, funded by Impact Fees saved by Nixa Parks and Recreation. The splash pad is expected to open in 2025.
