‘Not Your Normal Kids Show’ is TikTok’s new favorite creepypasta series
A creepypasta series about a mime and Tall Man has won over TikTok viewers and Reddit communities for its surreal visuals and storylines. While staged and directed to look like a nostalgic kids’ show from the past, “Not Your Normal Kids Show” is certainly not for children.
Every episode the show, which is imagined by creator BeeVeeKee, has racked up millions of views from horror fans across the platform. The first two episodes were uploaded in May, and the plot revolves around common creepypasta troupes like cursed objects and a character trying to uncover secrets.
Who is TikTok creator BeeVeeKee?
BeeVeeKee has over 3 million followers on TikTok, where she posts the majority of her original sketches, which aren’t exclusively horror-related. Some of her previously viral videos include lip-syncing to Fenemies podcast episodes, comedy skits that show off her impressive costume-makeup skills and quips about her life as a content creator.
What is the plot of ‘Not Your Normal Kids Show’?
The first episode introduces Dottie, played by BeeVeeKee, who is a mime. There’s Tall Man, who many fans think is a play on Slenderman or at least the villain of the story; there’s a creepy sun; a Mother character; and then there’s a human person, often referred to as the “viewer,” who gets seemingly kidnapped by Tall Man in the second episode.
There are only six episodes so far, with Dottie sharing different arbitrary warnings for viewers in each one, including that no one should answer the door for strangers and everyone have their legs out of the covers of their bed past 11 p.m.
Why do people like ‘Not Your Normal Kids Show’ so much?
Part of the fun is, as users started to follow along, they tried to pick up on connections and lore throughout the various videos. Lore is an important part of the creepypasta fan community — especially for multi-part stories — that helps make it feel more believable and grounded to the reader and therefore scarier.
Creepypasta fans also use lore to anticipate theories. In one subreddit, users debated which specific visuals and symbols that BeeVeeKee included in the “Not Your Normal Kids Show” could potentially explain the overarching plot.
Some TikTok commenters also compared the series to the horror video game Amanda the Adventurer, which has an escape-room-style, puzzle-focused plot. Fans love the series so much, a couple of them have suggested BeeVeeKee build “a whole universe created around this.”
Recently, Matthew Patrick, better known as MatPat to fans, even filmed a theory video about the show for the GTLive YouTube channel.
