NYC Pit Bull Shelter Puppy Goes Viral for His Perfectly Floppy Ears

The internet has a new favorite animal and he's a Pit Bull up for adoption at a shelter in Long Island, New York. Commenters are straight-up going gaga over the little guy for a very specific reason — his distinctive ears that are just so cute.

If you've been thinking about adopting a Pittie, consider this your sign to head to your local shelter ASAP.

Of course, if the Pittie puppy catches your eye you should try and take him home too. As footage from Karla shows, the Pit Bull was really just a baby. And he's the "new kid" at the shelter to boot.

The dog, Motley, has those large puppy eyes and looks like he's just waiting for someone to love him. But what really has the internet buzzing are his perfectly floppy ears. He's an absolute sweetie!

"New kid from Arkansas looking for his forever family," Karla explained in the video's caption.

The comments section had some big expectations for whoever takes the dog home. "Whoever gets this cutie better leave dem ears alone!! Love hims!!" gushed one commenter. "WHO EVER GETS HIM BETTER START HIM A TIKTOK ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY! I wanna watch him grow," someone else begged. While other people were about to get into their car and pick the dog up themselves. "My husband would remarry me if I came home with him," one person joked. "I just fell head over heels in love," one person admitted.

Caring for a Pit Bull Puppy

Anytime you bring home it's exciting. But just like any puppy, Pitties need special care to keep them happy.

For their safety (and the safety of your belongings) make sure you puppy-proof your home before the big day. That means removing any toxic substances and electrical cords from their reach.

Exercise is another important part of raising a puppy. Remember, puppies have a lot more energy than adult dogs have. So you need to be prepared for lots of walks, playtime, and general running around while they're young.

No matter how much they push your buttons, dogs always respond to positive training over punishment. Stock up on treats so that you'll be able to reward your dog when they do something right.

Make sure you schedule a visit with your vet and take care to get all of your dog's vaccinations out of the way. A shelter or animal rescue may have already done this before the adoption, so check in with them to see if any other medical procedures need to be done.

In some happy news, a follow-up video from Karla shared that Motley has been adopted!

"Happy day for Motley, he is going to his new home today!" she explained in the caption.

Even though Motley got his happy ending, Karla reminded us all that there are so many dogs out there that need a loving home too. "Puppies like Motley are in shelters all over the country. If you want a puppy or dog, please visit your local shelter!" she wrote.
