The 'Old Farmer's Almanac' Just Released Some Hot Summer Predictions

Maybe that list includes a smashing summer pool party, an outdoor nature hike, or getting your chef on with a loaded menu of summer recipes. Regardless of how you hope your summer will play out, there's one thing we know for sure: It's going to be a hot one!

"If your summer is anything like mine was as a child, you're currently sitting next to a sparkling pool, sipping a Shirley Temple, working on your tan, and enjoying three months of complete freedom, zero responsibility, and easy living," says Ree Drummond. Sounds like the dream summer day to us!

And based on the Old Farmer's Almanac, that dream might just become a reality for many of us this year! The publication released its summer weather predictions for 2024, and it looks like it's going to be an absolute scorcher! 🥵

Since it was founded in 1792, the annual American periodical has released its extended weather forecast to help readers prepare for the summer ahead. As of now, their forecasts are assessed against 30-year weather averages specific to each area, typically achieving an 80% accuracy rate.

Taking that into account, here's the lowdown on the summer weather patterns for 2024!

"Summer temperatures, on average, will be hotter than normal from New England through the Atlantic Corridor, in Florida and the Deep South, through Texas and the Midwest, and on to California," reports Bob Smerbeck and Brian Thompson, meteorologists at The Old Farmer's Almanac.

In terms of rainfall, most of the country, particularly in the Midwest and New England, will experience "normal to below-normal rainfall," while other regions of the country, including the West Coast and Texas, will have "normal to above-normal rainfall." And speaking of rain, you can also anticipate the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season, which officially starts on June 1.

But let's get back at the bright side: "If you’re hoping for a lot of pool or beach time, you may be happy about this forecast," Smerbeck and Thompson said.

So, get out your favorite family swimsuits and SPF, because summer pies won't be the only thing baking in the heat this summer!
